Inspections/Permitting

The City of Semmes has adopted the following building codes:

2018 International Building Code

2018 International Residential Code

2018 International Mechanical Code

2020 National Electrical Code

2018 International Energy Conservation Code

2018 International Plumbing Code

To schedule an inspection, please call or email the Permitting Clerk.

To apply for a permit you must be a property owner or a State Board certified contractor with a City of Semmes Business License.

Beginning January 1, 2023, all COMMERCIAL BUILDING PERMITS will only be issued to a state licensed general contractor with a City of Semmes Business License. The property owner will not be allowed to obtain a commercial building permit.

The property owner must provide legal documentation, such as a deed or lease agreement, in order to pull a permit.

ALL permits pulled on MOBILE HOMES must provide a BOH# (Board of Health) document for septic tank information.
